Retail or Market: Knowing How Every Product Is Priced
If you’ve browsed the Route27 online store this week, you may have noticed a small addition to our product listings. Every item now carries a ribbon that tells you how it’s priced: Retail or Market.
It’s a small change, but one we think matters.
What the ribbons mean
Retail means the product is sold at exactly the recommended retail price. Anything we source through official Australian distribution is always sold at RRP. Not close to it, not slightly over.
Market means the product is priced above the recommended retail price. These are items we can’t source through Australian distribution, whether they’re imported directly from Japan or China, or sourced from the secondary market. Because they come to us at a different cost, they’re priced accordingly.
Why we’re doing this
As Route27 grows, we’re bringing in more stock through official distribution. That means our store now carries a mix of both, sometimes side by side within the same release.
Without a clear label, it isn’t always obvious why one booster box costs what it does compared to another. We’d rather you never have to wonder. Honesty and transparency have always been at the heart of how we run Route27, and this felt like the most direct way to show it.
You shouldn’t need to look up RRP or message us to understand what you’re paying for. The ribbon tells you at a glance.
How Market prices move
Retail prices stay put. Market prices can change. As demand rises or falls, or as a product becomes harder or easier to find, its price may be adjusted.
That means a Market item may cost more or less next month than it does today. We’d rather be upfront about that than pretend otherwise. The ribbon is there so you know which prices are set and which ones can move.
Questions
